How to Collect a Laminate Sample
- Ask the homeowner if they have an extra piece of their laminate in an attic or garage.
- If there is no extra piece available, please collect the cleanest and least damaged sample from a low traffic area such as a closet or under raised furniture:
- Be sure to read and follow all tool manufacturers' instructions and always wear safety glasses!
- Cut the full width, including the locking mechanism (joining seam) and approximately 10” in length.
- If the laminate flooring is a glueless, snap-together product, an entire board may be able to be lifted by removing the baseboard at an intersection of two perpendicular walls.
- If the wood flooring is glued down, follow the glueless procedures above, realizing that the first board pulled up will most likely break apart. Additional boards will then be easier to remove.
Once you've collected the sample, fill out the ITEL Test Request Form.
